As well as providing financial rewards, engagement in work (like many other meaningful activities) has health benefits for the individual and can aid recovery from physical or mental health problems. Vocational rehabilitation is the process by which someone who has suffered illness, injury or disability is helped to return (or to remain in) their professional vocation. This process may draw from a wide range of possible assessments, interventions and services provided by a range of healthcare professionals and others.
All in One specialist assessment reports involve making recommendations on practical and purposeful interventions that promote recovery and overcome barriers to participation in work. Before recommending any such interventions to a client or their employer, we first determine the extent to which a client has the functional, psychological, and emotional capacity to complete their employment
The process may include:
Client assessment at home or work
Workplace evaluation and job analysis
Goal setting and intervention planning
Mitigating the medical consequences of an injury or disability
Support for self-management of health conditions
Health advice relevant to returning to work
Workplace modifications
Injury prevention
Psychological intervention
Career counselling and job placement services
Programme evaluations and research duties.
At All-in-One our specialist Occupational Therapists are skilled in completing full skills assessment with individuals of all age groups, which you required to be independent with your daily living activities.
Activities of daily living can include areas such as:
a) Activities
Independent living skills include activities that we usually do or wish to do at home, in the community, workplace, school or college. This may include, but is not limited to:
- self-care activities: bathing, washing, feeding and cleaning teeth
- domestic activities: care of the home
- roles and responsibilities: care of others, work and school responsibilities
- daily routine and organisation: the ability to organise our self and others
- leisure and recreational activities
Our skills assessment can determine the extent of a person’s independence and can help inform the needs and complexities of an individual’s care and support requirements. These reports can also identify areas of life where, with the right support, independence can be improved. Our assessment reports can take the order of assessing for a particular function, such as route training, or a full functional skills profile.
We have extensive experience of working alongside case managers and the multidisciplinary team in both statutory and private sectors in order to implement and plan independent living trials. We have the skills required to advise on immediate and long-term care needs and housing requirements for individuals with complex and catastrophic presentations.
b) Independent Living Skills management
- money and budgeting management
- life skills development i.e., cooking, cleaning, routine development, safety and risk
- medicine management
- fatigue management
- cognitive rehabilitation
All-in-One Occupational Therapists will perform an advanced functional assessment to holistically measure an individual’s level of function and ability to perform functional or work related tasks which are important to them, on a safe and dependable basis.
Our Functional assessment is an assessment that can take place in your home, in school, or the community, during this assessment you will participate in a variety of tasks with the therapist. During this time the therapist will be observing, analysing and determining what difficulties you may be experiencing. Our Occupational Therapist would use the functional assessment to determine how these problems are impacting upon you, and your ability at home, the community and at school. If you notice that you are having difficulty in any tasks that other people find easy then they may be suitable for an Occupational Therapy assessment from our team.
Our homes are the place we feel relaxed, safe and confident. When this is compromised through accident or illness, All-in-One Occupational Therapy can help by ensuring that your home environment best meets your changing or new abilities. It maybe though advice on small items of equipment, larger purchases such as stair lifts or support with more major changes such as bathroom modifications.
Our Occupational Therapists specialise in housing and equipment provision and are experts in ensuring that your home environment meets both long- and short-term needs. Our Occupational Therapist will use 3 factors in their assessment to shape their advice. Firstly, they will look at how the you previously and currently live your daily life in terms of your goals, routine and dependencies. Secondly, we will review the current or likely future physical environment and thirdly we will assess the your previous, current and likely future level of physical and cognitive abilities and challenges together with those of your carers or family. Once we have these key pieces of information, we will use our skills and training to form recommendations to reduce physical barriers and maximise independence and safety. All in One provide access to expert occupational therapy housing & equipment advice avoiding long NHS or Social Service waiting lists. We have established relationships of experienced companies to provide support with equipment purchase, trials or major adaptation works. We provide an all-inclusive cost to ensure that our services are fully transparent from the start. We can also assist with waiting list clearance in statutory services and assessment in support of a Disabled Facilities Grant (DGF).
Sensory processing (sometimes called ‘sensory integration’ or ‘SI’) is a term that refers to the way the brain receives messages and turns them into motor and behavioural responses. Sensory stimuli are picked up by sensory receptors all over the body. The receptors pass the
information to the brain. The brain is like a computer, filled with thousands of wires connected to different areas of the brain which help us process, interpret and then choose the appropriate response to the sensory stimuli.
In some individuals the connections between different areas of the brain can be different from typically developing individuals. These differences in the brain have been found to affect the way sensory stimuli is interpreted and processed by individuals practically those with autism. Interpreting and processing information differently results in individuals with autism selecting an unusual or sometimes inappropriate response to sensory stimuli. Research has found that many children and adults with autism have difficulty processing sensory stimuli and respond with unusual or atypical behaviour.
All-in-One Occupational Therapy, have highly experienced and are qualified in Sensory processing and have used sensory based strategies extensively. We can positively influence your child/adult’s attention, co-ordination, social participation and behaviour, using Goal orientated performance-based intervention, leading to improvements at home, at school and better engagement in the wider community.
All-in-One Occupational Therapy work with people/staff teams to develop an all-round understanding of the skills and abilities to perform Daily Living Skills in the home, school, work and in the community. We will give you a better understanding of Occupations involved in the integration and use of sensory, motor, cognitive, perceptual, emotional and social skills and abilities. By reviewing the skills needed examining where the person will be functioning (for example, their home, school or workplace), our occupational therapists can help people/staff teams to develop skills to modify the activity or the environment to create the best environment/occupation fit. Put simply, the best outcome for the person.
Our occupational therapy team will enhance the life opportunities for people you live with or support.
The government recently recommended that Services should deploy occupational therapy expertise to:
1. Ensure their services participation within communities is a core activity in service commissioning and delivery.
2. Ensure that they support people to live fully integrated lives within communities.
3. Create packages of care and support to enable people to get the right care in the right place.
Our Occupational Therapy team are here to support you, your family member and services in providing the right activities/occupations to improve people’s health and well-being. We can:
• Centre on supporting people to access and participate in education, work and mainstream community resources.
• Clear access points for mainstream services to specialist expertise and guidance.
• Assist the family/service to identify what’s important and what’s not important to the person to maintain their health and wellbeing through healthy activities/occupations.
• Guide families/staff teams through activities profiles for the people they support.
These may include areas such as, connecting with their community, understanding their past, present and future. Encouraging communication, mobility, activity, daily activities, what doesn’t work well and what works well.
Parenting as an occupation is significant as it can influence the overall development of a child. Parents who experience difficulties may find it challenging to cope with the demands of parenting.
All-in-One Occupational therapy can assist in performing their role as a parent. Preparing for parenthood can ensure that the parent gets the opportunity to nurture their natural maternal instinct and the child can receive good emotional and physical environment which would lay the
foundation for future emotional health.
Parents with difficulties and their children can both benefit through participating with our occupational therapists, in preparing for parenthood.
Our Occupational therapists have a unique holistic approach to assist parents to have a good self-concept of themselves as parents through our competency building and skills training.
With parent participation our Occupational Therapists can enable a positive impact on the parents’ self-growth, parenting skills to promote their development and functional skills in various fields, improving parent–child interaction, and successfully establishing the partnership between parents and professionals. The plan could include adaptability, overview of self-care, willingness to learn, and the individual learning of functional skills. This would aid parenting, information exchange, and perceptions, leading to many positive outcomes.

All-in-One Occupational Therapy prefer to use the term enablement plans rather than risk assessments. The purpose of a enablement assessment/plan is to identify and manage hazards to reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring that could cause harm or injury for carers and clients.
Enablement assessments/Plans are very important as they form an integral part of a health and safety management plan.
They help to: Create awareness of hazards and risk. Identify who may be at risk (e.g., the individual, employees, cleaners, visitors, contractors, the public, etc.)
All-in-One Occupational Therapy use the 5 Steps to enablement Assessment and plans:
1: Identify the Hazards.
2: Decide Who Might Be Harmed and How.
3: Evaluate the Risks and Take Action to Prevent Them.
4: Record Your Findings.
5: Review the enablement Assessment.
We will provide you, your family or carers with a full enablement assessment and a comprehensive plan, which will meet your everyday needs to enable you to live a more meaningful, fulfilled life you want.
